You feel like coming back to Germany for a longer period after having finished high school?
No problem! Come to Germany as an Au Pair for up to 12 months. Meet your German friends again, improve your German language skills and take advantage of your stay to get to know to our neighbouring countries and cultures.

What are the requirements to be an Au Pair in Germany ?

Age between 18 and under 25 when applying for the visa
Being fond of and liking to be together with children
Experience in dealing with and taking care of children
Physic and psychic health
Child care and character references
Valid passport; your passport should be valid for at least 6 months longer than you wish to stay in Germany
Visa
International driving licence if you will be required to drive
Criminal record check certificate
To pay all travel fares

What are your duties as an Au Pair ?

Your main task is to take care of the children. You will e.g. take them to the kindergarten, prepare light meals and play with them. Imagination, your own initiatve and patience are the most important requirements. Furthermore you will be expected to do light housework. Your working time lasts for 30 hours per week, plus babysitting up to three evenings, you have at least 1 day per week off.

What can you expect from your host family ?

While an Au Pair you are accepted and treated as a family member and can participate in all family activities ( e.g. leisure and holiday activities ). You have a seperate room and free accomodation. You get a pocket money of 230,-- Euro per month and paid 4 week vacation. Furthermore your host family takes out health and accident insurance for you. Most families pay for the German language classes the Au Pair attends.

When should you apply ? How long can you stay ?

You can apply any time, we recommend at least 2 - 3 months before your desired departure. You can stay in Germany up to 12 months.
