I arrived safely in Dresden where my host family picked me up. They are very nice and I feel at home 😀 Germay is very cold but at least the houses are nice and warm 😁

At the moment I’m feeling all sorts of emotions, but the one that overpowers them all is excitement. I can’t wait to go out and experience the other half of my culture and at the same time learn independence and not to mention explore Germany. I also can’t wait to taste the traditional German dishes and to have a true German Christmas. My host family is great, I’ve been chatting to my host brother almost everyday.

Hi Petra, I must I am very excited 😀 My host family is awesome from what we´ve communicated I don´t think you could have placed me with a better family. I am also glad to know that there will and is somebody who is going to look after us and make sure everything is fine whilst I´m there. I´m just a littttttlllleeee bit worried that my bag might weigh toooooo much, but otherwise I´m set to go. I´m trying not to think about how much I´m gonna mis everybody whilst I´m gone. Only 4 days and I´m outa here!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
tolle Erfahrung

da in der Schule die Klausurenwochen anstanden, habe ich leider eher keine Zeit gefunden Dir zu schreiben. Jetzt möchte ich Dir in einigen Zeilen über meinen Aufenthalt in Empangeni diesen Sommer berichten. Es war eine so tolle Erfahrung, die sich so kurz eigentlich nicht in Worte fassen lässt (natürlich gab es Tage an denen es nicht so gut war, aber insgesamt ziehe ich ein sehr positives Resümee).
Alles fing mit einem Zeitungsartikel an, den meine Mutter mir zeigte, woraufhin wir im letzten Herbst Chevonne bei uns aufnahmen. Mit ihr zusammen verbrachten wir tolle sechs Wochen und ich beschloss sie im Sommer zu besuchen. Als es dann endlich losging war ich doch recht aufgeregt, das war aber vorbei sobald meine Gastschwester mich zur Begrüßung in den Arm nahm. Meine Gastfamilie hat sich immer sehr um mich und meine Sicherheit gesorgt (ich habe wohl noch nie in vier Wochen so viel gegessen). Ich hätte mir gewünscht ein bisschen mehr zu unternehmen und vom wunderschönen Land zu sehen, doch da der Vater krank war, war dies nur eingeschränkt möglich. Doch insgesamt habe ich einen tollen Einblick gewonnen und so viele nette Menschen getroffen. Chevonnes Freunde nahmen mich herzlich auf und wir unternahmen so einiges zusammen (das Foto ist beim Golfspielen im Park entstanden). Am besten hat mir die Woche im Jugendcamp mit ungefähr70 Jugendlichen in meinem Alter bei Durban direkt am Indischen Ozean gefallen, da ich dort so viele interessante und herzliche Menschen getroffen habe, die viel Interesse gezeigt haben. Dort traf ich auch eine weitere Teilnehmerin des FSA, die mit der zweiten Sommergruppe gereist war (Lisa-Marie). Zusammen konnten wir das bisher erlebte austauschen. Glücklicherweise konnte ich an meinem letzten Tag in Empangeni auch noch mit in die Schule, die nun wieder anfing. Der Abschied am Flughafen viel mir sehr schwer aber wir versprachen uns, uns bald wiederzusehen. Dann ging es auf ins Bush Camp, was mir sehr gut gefallen hat. (Ich würde allerdings vorschlagen es zu Beginn des Aufenthaltes anzubieten, denn sonst denkt man sich, dass man lieber noch drei Tage bei Familie und Freunden geblieben wäre.) Leider erkältete ich mich stark (inklusive Mittelohrentzündung) und musste Zuhause aufgrund des Ausbruches der Schweinegrippe in unserer Region erst einmal in Quarantäne. Der Verdacht war natürlich unbegründet;) Insgesamt war es eine tolle Zeit, ich habe eine neue Kultur kennengelernt, auch wenn viel Afrikaans gesprochen wurde mit Freunden und in der Familie und ich nur erahnen konnte worum es ging, und habe vor allem ganz tolle Menschen kennengerlernt. Es waren unvergessliche vier Wochen, die viel zu kurz waren, und ich hoffe, dass es nicht mein letzter Besuch in SA bleiben wird. Vielen Dank für diese tollen Erfahrungen und die gute Organisation!!!

südafrika war für mich einfach eine unbeschreibliche erfahrung :) es war super schön dort und ich bin soooo froh, dass ich mit fsa nach südafrika geflogen bin :) es war wunderschön ...
meine gastfamilie in kapstadt war unglaublich nett zu mir und wir haben sehr schöne dinge unternommen:) wir waren auf dem tafelberg, am kap der guten hoffnung, ich bin auf einem kamel geritten, hab strause gefüttert, habe einen unvergesslichen geburtstag in afrika erlebt, wie waren in einen risiegen aquarium, sind nach robben island gefahren, waren shoppen, sind an den strand gefahren, ich habe die afrikanische schule besucht und noch vieles mehr...
es ist für mich ein unvergesslicher monat geworden :) doch am allerschönsten war die bush-camp-tour :) ich wusste vorher nicht so genau, ob ich da wirklich teilnehmen sollte...weil ich mir die tour selbst finanzieren sollte ...
aber jetzt bin ich sooooo froh, dass ich es doch gemacht habe :) wir hatten so viel spaß im camp und sind die erste nacht um mitternacht in den pool gesprungen :) es war wahnsinnig lustig:) wir haben auch ziemlich viele tiere gesehen. die guys waren voll nett und auf unserem jeep hatten wir einen hohen spaßfaktor :) mit machen leuten habe ich jetzt immer noch kontakt, was ziemlich schön ist :) cool wärs vielleicht, wenn wir so ein nachtreffen von der ganzen 2 gruppe machen würden, oder so...:)
eigentlich war es ein richtig großer zufall, dass ich überhaupt mit nach afrika geflogen bin, denn ich hab diese anzeige in der zeitung gelesen, dass deutsche gastfamilien für afrikaner gesucht werden...und dann bin ich selbst nach afrika geflogen und als jemand anderer zurüchgekommen :) diese andere welt dort in südafrika hat mich verändert und mir große einblicke in ein anderes leben geboten :) es war eine wunderschöne zeit in südafrika und im camp :) vielen dank, dass ihr von fsa mir sowas ermöglicht habt :D
