Es ist kaum zu glauben, wie schnell die vergangenen vier Wochen vergangen sind. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit mit Ilde und werden sie mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge verabschieden. Wir haben sie sehr gerne bei uns aufgenommen und freuen uns, sie kennengelernt zu haben.

It has been such a wonderful experience and I will be forever grateful to have done this. I lived going to the different towns and walking through the street, trying new food (and ice cream!😉) and of course the sunny weather. I am so blessed that my host family took me to see different things and they also took really good care of me.
Now the big challenge starts by trying to fit all my shopping into my bags😂

Dear Petra,
I am doing very well just sad to be leaving Germany :( my personal highlights have been making use of the train, eating traditional foods and going to traditional festivals. I love Germany and it’s people along with it’s food and landscapes.
My dish was a huge success and they all loved eating it. My presentation also went very smoothly and the learners loved my fizzers that I brought from South Africa.
These people have made me feel so welcome and at home and I hope to keep in contact and see them again one day :) .
3 Monate in Gqeberha
Meine Zeit in Gqeberha / Port Elizabeth gehört zu den schönsten Erinnerung meines Lebens. Schon bei der Safari haben wir so viele schöne Tiere aus der Nähe gesehen. Ich bin mit Delfinen gesurft, war tauchen mit Haien und campen in der Baaviansclef. Südafrika ist ein wunderschönes Land mit unfassbar netten und gastfreundlichen Menschen. Ich habe viele neue Freunde gefunden, mit denen ich auch jetzt noch Kontakt habe und war in einer total netten Gastfamilie, die ich definitiv wieder besuchen werde. Ich habe Südafrika wirklich ins Herz geschlossen! Danke für alles FSA!

Danke, dass ihr so etwas tolles auf die Beine stellt und so vielen jungen Menschen den Kulturaustausch ermöglicht! Ich persönlich habe mich in den 6 Monaten wirklich nur in das Land verliebt und die tollsten Menschen kennengelernt, die sich wirklich wie eine zweite Familie anfühlen. Ich werde meine Gastfamilie dieses Jahr wieder besuchen. Danke für eure Arbeit und dass ich dadurch eine zweite Familie finden durfte! Nur alles Gute für die Zukunft! Eure Hanna

Arrival in Germany
I arrived at my host family this weekend. Thank you to the FSA for this wonderful placement. I couldn't be more grateful. I am with a wonderful family. It already feels like I am a part of their family. Everyone at the school is also very nice and it is lovely to really experience the German culture with a German family. I can't wait for every experience that will still come. Once again thank you to the FSA for the great organisation, help with the train from Frankfurt airport and the placement. Without you this lovely experience wouldn't be possible!

Thank you, FSA! For this wonderful opportunity you have given me, I am lucky enough te have already seen little parts of Germany already, so I know I'll have a great time. My host family seems very nice and I'm sure they'll receive me with open arms.
I'm most excited to see what type of things German kids learn in school and how it differs from our schools. I'm also looking forward to getting to know my host family and I think I'll get along with my host brothers very well. I've always wanted to experience a Christmas in the snow, because in SA, December is the hottest month of the year. It might take a while to get used to the snow, but it'll be the experience of a lifetime.
